Pregnancy Visits
James will see you initially at about 8 weeks gestation. Your visit will include a medical history, dating ultrasound and discussing all your issues relating to the pregnancy. Many couples choose to have a screening test for Down Syndrome, a chromosome disorder in the baby. This test is called the Nuchal Translucency Scan (NT) and James will discuss this with you further at the first visit.
Consultations thereafter are four weekly until twenty-eight weeks, then fortnightly until thirty-six weeks, then weekly until birth.
Staff
Two secretaries, Sara and Lesley, work closely with James. They will answer your calls, make appointments and greet you in the rooms.
James’ Practice Manager and Midwife is Sue. Sue is a senior and highly trained midwife who works each day except Wednesday (Gina is the midwife in the rooms on Wednesday). Sue liases directly with James and is available during normal hours to answer your more common pregnancy issues.
Consulting rooms
To ensure you and your baby’s safety, the consulting rooms contain the latest equipment including a four-dimensional ultrasound and a colposcope.
After Hours
If you have a concern after hours please contact Hurstville Private on 9579 7777 and speak with the midwife in delivery suite. If the midwife is at all concerned for you or your baby she will direct you to attend delivery suite and she will contact James directly.
James shares a weekend roster to allow him to spend quality time with his family. James works one in three weekends and when he is not available his colleagues, Dr Greg Davis, Dr Emmauel Karantanis and Dr Trent Miller, provide cover. They practice obstetrics in a similar way and keep each other informed of your individual requirements.
